It’s always a pleasure to see the process behind the design work for a brand, especially when there is great illustrations like these. Everyone works differently in their design process. Some sketch out ideas, some move right into the digital design and others that have the illustration talent can take the initial concepts further with pen and paper.
By creating the script type by hand, Ind Hed is able to create a unique logo that will be different than any other. Once the idea is illustrated, you can see how Ind Hed dissected it and used parts throughout the branding.
As seen in the demonstration videos, Ind Hed created a wonderful specialized packaging using stamps and colored paper to wrap their bottles. This is definitely not a high volume method, but for very special batches this is a great touch. Using stamps gives you a great textured print that will never be the same on each print.
Ind Hed also did a great job in presenting the branding in many different implementations. The use of the golden yellow color in the branding is consistent and strong throughout the design work. Using a bottle shape that’s unique is another great way to stand out from other brands. Craft beer brands need to stand out from all the other options on the shelf. It can be more challenging to achieve this when every bottle and label is the same size and shape.
